Dear Ms. Summer

How are you doing?
We are doing well. It is a quiet night, and I thought I would write you a quick note to let you know what we have been up to lately.

We started off  this season of sunshine with a pre-lunch ice-cream treat. In the middle of our first family of 4 bike ride this cool treat was perfect refreshment on a beautiful day.  YUM!
In the first few days following the end of school and the last days of work we had a few quiet moments. But ever since then we have been an active B team.
We have spent a lot of time outside but on hot afternoons we have come up with other things to keep us busy.  Mr. J loves to paint. In fact he loves to do whatever his brother is doing and LOVES LOVES LOVES walking around with a ball in hand.
Canada Day was very enjoyable. We traveled to our favourite mountain town and perfect mountain playground.  It was once again a fantastic parade for a young family. Mr. J sat enamoured the entire time.
When we asked Mr. O what his favourite part was, he replied "The girls with the flags."
That is my boy! While I did not get a shot of the girls, I did get a picture of the CS band following them. They sure looked and sounded good in this setting.
We have made several efforts this past week to ensure the kids have been a part of the Stampedes' 100th year celebrations. Last Saturday we ventured out for an early morning pancake breakfast. It was a hit.  I love my little man in a cowboy hat.
We went to the grounds together as a family last Sunday.  It was hot and apparently the entire city felt the need to see the SuperDogs. Really? O handled the disappointment like a champion and quickly learned that there is so many other things he will yearn for another year.
On Wednesday A surprised Mr. O with another trip back to the grounds. Still a CRAZY line up for the Dogs....but what ensued was certainly more memorable.
This was his first "BIG KID" ride.  They both were so excited. On Wednesday Mr. O patiently waited over an hour to go on it again.  I took this picture on Sunday. Look at his smile and his grip!
While A and Mr. O were chasing thrills and fun at the grounds, Mr J and I were keeping cool at home. On Thursday Mr. J had his first hair cut. WOW that was an experience. Sorry, no pictures can be taken when the photographer has a screaming child suctioned to her chest. He sure is cute, but my oh my he sure does not like strangers!
Over the last 3 weeks we have spent a lot of time with our buddies. So fun. So rewarding.
A playground and picnic party with T. ( love this picture)
Tons of neighbour time with D3 and a special trip to Heritage Park to enjoy the trains and rides with C.
And an extended play-date today that went so well. She played trains. He played hotel. I gave them their space as I think they play better without constant supervision, but would have done anything to hear everything they were discussing in their own 4 year old language.

It is hard to believe how fast the summer is going. We hope the days ahead continue to be warm and filled with fun, friendship and new experience. The calendar has a stag party, stagette celebration, wedding, vacation time, and quiet home moments penciled in.  Take care friend, enjoy a cool drink and we will talk again soon.....( but maybe not till the fall?)

Happy Summer!

  1. What fun you all are having! Let's hope the rest of this summer goes much more slowly so that we can enjoy every last minute. Take care :)
