Endless entertainment

It is nothing special, and it certainly is nothing too crazy but it is amazing what a little coloured duct tape, a few foam mats from Walmart, and a little rearranging has done to inspire a whole new way of spending time and playing in our basement.

One day we want to renovate our basement, however right now we are not exactly sure what we want the basement to look like ( do we want open concept or a bedroom design, will I need a craft room space or will we be planning an area for model trains) and also our bank account is a little unsure as well.

The pictures are not great so please come over with the kids, bring a helmet (maybe a bike too) put on your guest slippers ( it is still a little too dusty for sock feet) and sit with me in the spectator seats. We may get to relax for a few before we are called to the track, store, garage, or the house to play.
Welcome to our basement.
The start line-likely where you will be in charge of the checker flag.
CAUTION: Narrow passage ahead, precise turns required. Bumping into the furnace causes the road to be closed. Sorry this track has rules.
We have been so excited and impressed with how much O has improved. Gliding, balancing, turning, and braking with the heel of his Crocs ( great) all new and improving skills. We can not say enough about the Strider bike we bought in October.
The cozy corner. This has been the best addition to the basement. J has a place to crawl and together we have a place to play now. A suggestion was made to paint/seal the floor. If renovation is more than 5 years away this may be something we will consider especially since J insists on dusting the cement floor with his shirt and pants.
My "work"space and regrettably it may become my real work zone again soon.
Those are not my texts and binders; they are Daddy's. He needs them! He is smart so I oblige and let them stay every time we thin.
The "house" blocks off our updated and tidied shelves. How do we have so many bins for little boy clothes?
The garage and gas station is simple but effective. The baby gate is where you park your ride and my old knitting ( unfinished squares and scarves) make great cleaning cloths and a gas line for the pump.
J dot O's store is stocked, but currently the racetrack is getting a lot more business. Maybe we should move the burgers and drinks to a concession stand?

We still have a few things to do, including wrapping the posts with foam ( thank for the idea Grandad) but mostly it is just fun additions.

If you couldn't guess I have been a little preoccupied and my cleaning schedule has been a little delayed by World Grand Prix ( pee) races! I must get back on the TRACK.....I wish I was at the finish line but I am hardly past the start!

  1. LOVE your basement and I'm sure your boys will spend plenty of time down there.

I've totally failed at following along with you. I have yet to go into the bathroom cupboards.

  2. Jill, its funny how similar our boys are. I run a racetrack around our whole upstairs on a daily basis with both Luc and Isaac. They'd LOVE yours! Matt made them little race car steering wheels out of cardboard and Luc grabs one of Izzy's blankets for a flag! haha
