Transitions

Just like the season is changing (Yeah I love FALL) so are things around our house.

FIRST of all a note to the weather gods. I expect FALL weather just like today.

"Bright blue sunny skies. Changing and falling leaves. Warm in the day, cool at night. Sweater and jeans weather. "

Now back to changes and transitions………

Mr J is now 5 months old and he is changing and growing so quickly. (This makes me kind of sad). In the last few weeks he has tried so many new things. He seems to love each new “station” I plunk him in. I fall more in love with him each day. My oh my he can smile and he certainly can pout.

Mr O is officially a pre-schooler. Being a Mom who is always after a great photo to stare at for years to come I am thrilled with our “first” front door school picture.

I will share…

I told him to be a soldier. Good work big boy. He is making his Mommy proud these days. Last week was the beginning of 2 new activities: swimming and school. No more Mom or Dad to negotiate, intervene, distract, redirect or encourage. From what we know (?) he did great, and we (I) did ok too. Next month will also signal the beginning of soccer.

With these new activities I suddenly feel like a new chapter has begun. We have a schedule and weekly commitments that involve more than meeting someone for coffee and a playdate. I already feel a little like a fish out of water. A little behind and a little disorganized. While pick up and drop offs, casseroles, and hurry up bellows await me so to does “ what did you learn at school today” conversations, sticky paintings in book bags, and Timbits after soccer on Saturday.

Since I can not afford to loose anymore hair ( silly hormones) I have to promise myself to enjoy these small moments and embrace this transition…..and I am going to try and get to bed earlier too. Starting tonight....after all it is a school night.

  1. Wow - 5 months already. That is astonishing! Love his smiles in the jumper...he's one handsome little man :)

It really is amazing to think we're entering the world of extra curricular activity management! A new stage to be sure. It doesn't seem long ago that an activity was to meet with our Chariots & Cheerio snacks at the Starbucks!
