31 days

Last weeks cold, windy, and snowy weather kept us hiding in the house for much of the week. In turn, I tried to take advantage. We got the house (minus the tree) decorated and gift buying lists organized. Thursday and Friday when the weather warmed and the slush arrived I tackled my "to do's".
Today I am happy to celebrate that my Christmas prep is right where I hoped. Now, just as I had wished for, we should be on track to have the time and energy to truly ENJOY, CELEBRATE, and REMEMBER this holiday season.

This morning I was flipping through old Cooking Light magazines and instead of finding new and exciting recipes that I was really inspired to try, I found an article suggesting food and activity ideas for the month of December. I am unable to follow the recommended schedule, it is based on a December 2007 calendar, however many of the ideas ( in whatever order) still seem appealing. I hope this guide will help me and my family ring in the holiday with lots of festive family fun. This is the schedule for the first week of December. ( I will let you know next week what we actually did.....)

Wednesday December 1: Get a head start on hostess gifts.
Convey your thanks to holiday party givers with a jar of zesty home-made chutney.

Thursday December 2: Deck the halls.
Decorate the house to get into the holiday spirit. Break for a quick, decadently delicious sandwich.

Friday December 3: Send a care package.
Pack a fresh batch of cookies for far-away friends and family.

Saturday December 4: Open house.
Kick of the month by inviting friends, family, and neighbours for a late-afternoon buffet.

Sunday December 5: Winter hike.
Head into the woods, and enjoy the crisp air. Take along a thermos full of tasty stew to savour at a scenic resting spot.

Monday December 6: Dinner by the fireplace.
Cosy suppers for comfort foods are one of the season's great pleasures.

Tuesday December 7: Make teacher gifts.
Remember the special instructor with a spicy treat that is good eaten out of hand or mixed into salads.

Happy First Week of December!

  1. So things have been a little crazy here, but I want to make sure I said THANK YOU for the package we received in the mail from you the other day. I always appreciate a hand made card from you.

    Thanks again
