Where does...

your imagination go when you are up late at night?

The last few nights, and certainly in the early O days, I had a lot of time with my thoughts and my imagination. This past week, my little man has been waking himself up almost every time he has to cough. Last night pathetic whining graduated into I am so tired I am pissed off at the world. So needless to say I had a fair bit of time to think..haha)

So, as I sat in my IKEA chair rocking, like most nights before bed, I found myself staring at the 3 pictures above O's bed. I wondered if he likes wagons & cars because he has been looking a picture of them every night since he was 3 days old? I certainly have been looking at them for a long time. If there is another boy in our future the art work and room decor will change purely for my enjoyment and stimulation.

Next I moved on to walking my imaginary self through our imaginary house. Do I want: blinds, shutters, silhouettes, drapes, or combinations? What kind of carpet? Am I sure about kitchen cabinet colour? There unfortunately was a consideration at almost every step. But also excitement at every turn.

Then I began thinking about Sesame Street. O LOVES Sese Steet. For so long we never watched t.v with O, and now he requests it regularly throughout the day. It is like Elmo and Abby are his long lost friends and by turning on the t.v he finally gets a chance to see them again. Not too long ago I did not know who Abby, Blog, and Murray were. I was not familiar with Elmo's World, Abby's Flying Fairy School, and Murray Goes to School. How my world has changed. Thank goodness these characters are entertaining, make O laugh, seem to make him think, and certainly give him an escape from his crazy mother running around the house.

I have always known that I was a day dreamer, but these days I seem to be getting more opportunities. I think we are going to the doctor today, and Mommy will take a sick day. We both deserve it.

UPDATE:
For two years I have never been a mom who ran to the doctor at the first signs of a cold in fear that the germs we may encounter in the clinic may be "yuckier" than the ones we have. Well today at our late afternoon appointment ( thanks to Nana I only had to take 1/2 a day off) we learned that our little toddler has an ear infection and has some croup in his lungs. Poor guy was cranky but never complained like he should have been- I think Sesame Street hour helped..haha.

So... Thank goodness for good access to our doctor and a doctor with perspective I now hope we are now on the mend. Keep your fingers crossed we do not want to have to go back for a chest x-ray!

  1. first off - UGH! Poor O and poor Mommy. No fun for anyone :( Glad you listened to your gut and took him in though. Hope he's back in top notch shape soon so we can play :)

second - love the header pic! Looks great!

third - in answer to your first question. My brain tries to tell my imagination to stay quiet and get back to sleep. Seems to be malfunctioning a whole lot these days. I start thinking about everything from my next knitting project to what I should go and raid the fridge for.
