Bits and Bites. A Little Bit of Everything

It has been a few days since I have sat down in front on the computer to write.....well actually that is a lie. I have been sitting in front of a computer for two straight days typing student reports. Maybe this is why I have not "blogged" in a few...I am pooped and not very good at being a full time office girl. So while I should have been focused on student progress and goal achievement I have found myself day dreaming about my to do list, my garden, my quilt, and my toddler. I will elaborate.

My to do list: Several goals are going to be left on-going. Funny enough this is kind of like many of my students. Oh dear.

My garden: Great improvements have been made, but the snow last weekend did nothing to encourage summer blooms and the hail yesterday did not exactly play kind to my Martha Washington geraniums. Two weeks ago, after we filled in the last hole in our garden, I made it a priority to identify what everything was. I had saved all ( well I think all ) the tags from the last two years and currently am the proud owner of a lot of confusion. I am unable to identify what many species are and yesterday my little sista informed me that I will have to be patient and wait for blooms. Attached above is one of my question marks. In the meantime, I am praying for no frost, little hail and lots of sunshine. This family is ready for some Smores over the fire pit. I also want to sit and look at lots of pretty plants. I will talk about my failing herbs another time.

My quilt: I am so close to being done and YET I have so much hand sewing to do! So tonight I will get on the "I think I can train" and stitch the night away.

My toddler: Well, he is always on my mind. Since I did not, and likely will not, get a book read in the next 5 days I am making a new commitment to try harder in the months to come. In fact, I am going to try and read one fun book and one book regarding the little man. Today I think I found the book I want to read. After looking at a web-site that my London Lady Friend ( who will be a mommy in about a month..so excite) I came across a recommended reading list. Interested in the list, I began reading more about Harvy Karp. He is the author of the The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block books. I also watched a few of his appearances on popular t.v shows. Here is an except from his toddler book:

Toddlerhood is one of the high points of parenthood. There’s nothing like a one-, two-, or three-year-old to help you see the world in wonderful new ways. The bugs in the grass…the shapes in the clouds…the “castles” in a pile of sand. Toddlers brim with curiosity, excitement and irresistible charm.

But as we all know, toddlerhood isn’t non-stop fun. It’s more like three parts party mixed with two parts wrestling match and one part jungle safari. Why so wild? Because during these three short years the most amazing, explosive developments in a person’s life occur! From walking, to speaking, to making first friends, to solving problems, toddlers achieve all of the major developmental milestones that make human beings unique and extraordinary. It’s no exaggeration to say that between ages one and four our children are transformed from wobbly, adorable little monkey-like infants into singing, joking, thoughtful little people..............

A Chapter Highlight includes: PUSHING THE LIMITS: WHY GOOD TODDLERS ACT “BAD”

Let’s take a minute to talk about the six reasons why even the best toddlers may sometimes rebel against their parent’s rules and limits:
1. Toddlers can’t explore without pushing some rule
2. Toddlers are impulsive, self-centered and short-sighted.
3. Our rules are often confusing.
4. Our rules are often unrealistic.
5. We accidentally encourage bad behavior.
6. Sometimes your toddler is just having a bad day.

Anyways...it has got me interested. We may make a trip to Chapters tomorrow. All of this started when I looked at this web-site: www.infomommy.com

AND FINALLY...about those cute little Puma Sneaks attached above. Those are O's new shoes. He is a lucky boy! Thanks NANA and GRANDAD!!!!

  1. Did he already grow out of his NB's?

  2. Jill - I'm currently reading the same book. I bought it last summer when my little darling turned into a tiny terror (15-18 months). Pregnancy, full time work, and mommy-duties affected my ability to even open the book during 2008, so I decided to attempt reading it again recently. I'm not sure what to think yet..., but I've only gotten through a couple of chapters.
