Meet the babies

You are about to meet Catherine and baby Beluga (oh yes, baby Beluga).

Last Sunday, Catherine and the un-named boy (now proudly named baby Beluga), once Auntie Karen's, came home with us.

Over the last three years O has taken little notice of the two very real looking dolls almost permanently positioned on the guest bed at Nana and Grandad's. However last week, after receiving a new hairdo a la Nana and Auntie Karen, Catherine and baby Beluga suddenly became very popular in the heart and arms of my son.

On night one they slept in his bed. I am sure his sleep was interrupted countless times as their plastic limbs rattled against the wall all night. But he went to bed and woke up awfully happy.

Last Friday Catherine got dressed in J's outdoor clothes. I am not sure how she made it into the car ( I typically have a rule that certain toys, animals, blankets, etc must stay at home) but I think I was so proud and warmed by O's kindness to dress her in cozy clothes that I could not resist. He really got lucky in fact, as she also made it in for a coffee with Dad ( Dad was not sure what to make of Catherine dressed in his youngest son's clothes). What could I do when O told me that we could not leave her in a cold car....and with that in she came. Smarty pants.

Today the babies got the sugar germs cleaned off their teeth with the toilet paper roll holder. They also got "pokes" with the same device. Bless his heart the babies got rewarded with Jugo Juice for being brave and good.

It is so awesome to sit back and watch him teach the babies. It was also reassuring that his first flu shot and hygienist cleaning were not too traumatic last week. He did a lovely job talking them through the process and teaching them about Mr Thirsty the suction at the dentist. (We had an awesome hygienist and will be requesting her again).

My mom thinks we should get O a Cabbage Patch for Christmas. All my cousins ( all boys) had one growing up. Although not the most gentle caregiver O sure loves talking to the babies, telling them stories, recounting daily happenings, informing them when they might crawl and how they have to eat well in order to walk (I think he is hoping his brother will do more soon). I know he would never ask for a doll, after all he has Catherine and Baby Beluga but I am wondering if it is a good thought? Something to think about. Christmas can not come soon enough for him at the moment. We started talking about Santa a little too soon I think. Oh dear. P.S. Santa, O really wants a car ramp for Christmas. He still remembers what your brought last year so there is little chance he will forget this request.

~Thanks for all the comments friends. I appreciate the love. I do enjoy blogging and even though it took me hours to write this post ( laundry, Gabby Giffords special, and a teething child interruptions) I am glad to post both words and photos this week.

~To those of you who are curious, our gallery site still exists, it just is changing ( In a few months we will no longer be able to subscribe to the Mac gallery service). I am knowingly being lazy as I do not know what I am going to do when this happens. All you have missed is Halloween pictures and a lot of handsome little boy pictures. :)

  1. Jill, O is such a caring big brother, and I do think a cabbage patch is a good idea. But, would he have time to take care of 3 babies? hmmm. I love reading your blogs and will miss them if you take a break, but I don't know how you have found the time to update them so far! Chat soon, xo Mandy
