We are making progress on my garden beautifying mission. Last year we got some help building a patio and planting numerous perennials and shrubs. When the construction was completed and all the planting done, I felt confident that I could identify and care for the majority of our new yard. Yet, this spring, after a long winter I am having trouble FINDING a lot of my beloved green friends nevertheless caring for them or identifying them. Last fall before the snow fell I was well aware that many of my plants were a favourite meal for our rabbit friends, but I did not expect that they would snack on them till there was nothing left. In fairness the frost and very very very wet soil may have seriously injured my greenery, but gee whiz those rascally rabbits...grrr. So because I am not a patient gardener, I have chosen to forgo the waiting game, put the rabbits on a forced diet and replant, redistribute, and re-do several sections of my garden. Unfortunately gardening is a pricey habit, especially when animals and weather seem to destroy a lot of our prettiest species. To avoid this year after year, I opted for more evergreens on round 2 instead of leafy, luscious plants.
So as I cleaned up my yard this afternoon, and considered what I wanted to write on this blog I thought to myself I am pretty close to being done this task. But then I made a list of the things I have yet to do ( or convince my husband to do) in order to truely satify my beautifying goal. The list is long...longer than I thought. So we still have some work ahead of us, but I am hopeful that I will be satisfied and eager to show off soon. In turn, I should have some time left in the short summer we get to enjoy my perserverance and hard work. Come visit soon ( well in a few weeks), just don't ask me what everything is yet, that is one of the jobs I have yet to tackle...hehe.
