Over the course of the last 13 months I have been picking away at O's baby book, O's first year photo book, and putting everything together in a "Baby Box".
I have completed the photo book, a la Mac and I love it. Next to be tackled is the Baby Book
The book I am using is a traditional, write by hand book. It took me a while to find a book I liked. I admit I was fairly picky but truthfully there were some fairly odd baby books out there. In the end I commited my efforts to a Pepper Pot book. When you look up "Pepper Pot Baby Books" on-line you will find a variety of great options, needless to say however finding them in a store was a bit more challenging. Overall this book has been a great. It has pages for family generation information ( always interesting to find out proper names and reflect on who was alive when baby was born) several pages for personal information on Mom and Dad, pages for "before I was born" pictures and info, 12 pages for arrival pictures, information and hospital keepsakes, numerous "welcome home" pages, and course watch me grow pages which have room for lots more photos, info on sleeping, teething, first hair cuts, eating, favourites, firsts, and growth. The book has one page for each birthday up to age 5 and a page for the first day of school. Throughout the book I changed the theme of some pages, for example pictures of "my first outing" became pictures of "first trip to Portugal". I have also added a fair bit of extras and because of this the book is becoming quite thick. My only complaint is how some of the pages ( purely because of the time of year our little man was born) are really out of order. Oh well. All this being said I am getting close to being completely updated.
Yet to be done includes:
One more signature on the baby shower card
A letter from me,
A letter from Dad,
Fix up hand print page
House photo ( to be taken when the snow goes away)
Fix up the growth chart %
Print and paste hair cut pictures
In regards to getting the box together for the purpose of storage I still need to find covers for the newpapers ( if possible) better arrange the small keepsakes that I have stashed away ( sleeper, diaper, soother, wish bone, hospital toque, etc) and finish getting all the cards I have kept together.
I am also dreaming of a beautiful wood box down the road to better hold all these great memories. Then when it is time I can hand it over to the little man who made me a mom.
LOVE the blog, Jill
